It feels like the second half of this year is flying by. My favorite part of the week is the day I spend volunteering at Loreto College Junior School teaching choir and preparing the students for school liturgies. Two weeks ago, the 6th Class received the sacrament of Confirmation. After months of preparation, the candidates and their sponsors celebrated mass with Bishop Paul Dempsey and Fr. Gary.
The 4th and 5th Class choir sang at the confirmation mass. I am so proud of the progress the choir has made and can see that the students really enjoy singing together, especially when they are in the gallery! The 6th Class students diligently prepared the music and each aspect of the liturgy with myself and their teacher, Ms. Walsh. As we reviewed the Gifts of the Holy Spirit, I reflected upon how they are visible in my life and in what ways I can continue to use them in my service with House of Brigid. As I look towards the next few months and what comes after House of Brigid, I trust that these gifts will guide and inspire me along my way. I also reflected upon my own confirmation. I took the name Brigid, after Saint Brigid of Ireland. I remember doing a presentation on St. Brigid for my 6th Grade classmates. Who would’ve thought, nearly 13 years later, I would be where I am today!
House of Brigid has offered me so many new experiences and opportunities to grow as an individual both spiritually and professionally. Being a part of the Loreto school community has been such a blessing to me. I am most grateful for the time I spend at Loreto and so excited to continue making music and sharing in faith with the school community. Although it feels like time is moving faster than I can keep up, I am making an extra effort to slow down, reflect, be grateful and pray, as I continue my service at Loreto and help prepare for the sacrament of First Holy Communion and the end of the year choral concert, “Heart Speaks to Heart.”
