We begin this week with preparations in full swing for the upcoming celebration of St. Brigid’s feast day! With the script for the service completed and most of the items for the epic sacred space already in our possession, we are almost there. Our home will soon be infiltrated with plant rushes that the community will use to make around 200 Brigid Crosses that will be distributed to each person who attends the celebration this Sunday evening.
Our preparations for the celebration have turned out to be really beneficial for all of us musically as well! In our search for repertoire we’ve finally been able to get our hands on the sheet music for many of the tunes we’ve heard and loved in the pubs throughout the year and the music being made in our living room these days has never sounded so sweet!
Our normal day to day duties are on a pretty regular schedule now once again. On Wednesday Jessica and Patrick will be in charge of another Kennedy Park Class Mass. Although the Mass was originally scheduled for the end of November, school conflicts and cancellations due to the snow forced them to postpone the celebration until this month. Intended to correspond with the Feast of All Saints in November, this Class Mass is themed on the saints and will include songs and prayers led by the fourth class students centered on this theme. I can’t wait to see all of their hard work play out and I know the kids are excited to finally show their parents all they’ve done to prepare for this liturgy.
This weekend we will also welcome some of our dear friends to Wexford. Steve and Michele Warner will be here to join us for the St. Brigid’s day festivities and we are all pretty excited to show them what we’ve been up to this year in Teach Bhríde, Season II!
Have a blessed week, everyone!
