The last 30ish hours have been spent allowing our minds, bodies and taste buds to recover from our magnificent trip to Paris! As we returned to work in the parish today we began to gear up for all that is to come in the next few weeks. The next big item on our agenda is our celebration of Thanksgiving which we will be hosting for several members of the Wexford community. The invitations have been sent (pictured below) and now we’ve just got to start buying food and calling upon all of our family recipes and traditions for our grand celebration. I’m super excited!
And even though we’ll be busy with that for the next couple weeks, Thanksgiving is just the first of many things on our plate for the next two months. It’s hard to believe that Advent is really just around the corner but we are already doing plenty to get ready for it here. Patrick and Jess have been hard at work preparing the children of Kennedy Park for their Christmas Carol service and Carolyn and I helped plan the parish’s Family Liturgy Group Christmas Eve service. The parish office is now decked out with all sorts of little nativity scenes for sale and today the Christmas scented candles arrived so everyone is feeling good!
Dear Patrick, Jess, Clarisa and Carolyn
You have left me wanting to hop a flight to Paris today, despite the fact that just yesterday I was promising never to leave home again. It sounds like a fabulous trip. Now get Patrick to prepare his Julia Child menu for all of you, he makes a phenomenal steak au Poivre and delectable Potatoes Anna.
Love to all at this time of thanksgiving,
Susan Duffey
I thought I might share a little known fact with you all. Patrick is a direct line descendant from one of the first Americans to land in the Massachusetts Bay Area when he came over on the Mayflower in the 17th century. Patrick does not like to talk about it, but he actually had his 8th birthday party on Plymouth Rock. If one takes a close look at the Mayflower Compact you can, in fact, find the signature of his foregone relative. (Hint, they loop their y’s in the same irritating fashion.)
