Saturday night marked the official start of the 2010 Wexford Opera Festival. The four of us walked to town to watch the opening fireworks from the Wexford Bridge. Strung with lights and full of people, the bridge and the quay were a beautiful sight to behold. As the fireworks sparkled in the sky and off the water, the energy in all of all those watching just seemed to grow and grow. Festival is obviously a very beloved time here in Wexford. Then after the fireworks display, two of us (Patrick and Carolyn) essentially ran the two-ish uphill miles home to watch the Notre Dame Football game that had already begun. Jess and I walked and got ice cream on the way home 🙂
Yesterday we enjoyed our first work-free Sunday afternoon in a while and it felt great to return home after our morning Masses and just relax.
The next two weeks are sure to be full of plenty of fun. On Tuesday we will welcome two friends from Notre Dame on Fall Break, Dan and Katie. Add on top of that Flannery’s weekend visit from Cork and loads of amazing music and art events, I’d say life is pretty grand!
