Hello everyone!
So much has happened since we returned home to Wexford from our Christmas holiday adventures! We launched back into rehearsals with the youth and vigil choirs, folk group, and family liturgy group, along with our Educate Together lessons on Sunday mornings, and First Communion and Confirmation preparation for Kennedy Park and Scoil Mhuire. Last week, Clonard hosted the Ferns Diocesan Ecumenical Service on the opening day of the universal Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which attracted a great crowd from the Church of Ireland, the Methodist and Presbyterian churches, and the Roman Catholic Church. It was so encouraging to see such a strong interest in ecumenism here in the diocese of Ferns!
Apart from our everyday responsibilities here, exciting new projects are also in the works! We have begun rehearsing for our Passion Play, planning for Clonard’s upcoming Parish Mission this March, and of course, preparing for next weekend’s epic celebration for the feast of St. Brigid! This Saturday we are hosting our first diocesan music workshop of the year, which means each of us will be showing off our choir director skills as we introduce and teach new music particularly suited for First Communion and Confirmation liturgies to choir members from all around the diocese.
In other news, the application deadline for Teach Bhríde VII is rapidly approaching! February 1 is the final date to submit applications, so if you are a college senior or recent graduate interested in spending a year or two serving the Catholic Church in Ireland through liturgical music ministry and catechesis, I encourage you to apply!
Please keep us in your prayers as we continue our various ministries here in Ireland, as we hold you in ours!
